Other news : The National Front (BN) government under the leadership of Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has suffered it's biggest election setback in the history of the Malaysian ruling coalition. With the official federal parliament results available for 221 out of 222 seats, BN saw it's majority from 92% in the 2004 elections drop to 63% this time. The opposition Islamic Party held firm in Kelantan state while four other states, namely Kedah, Penang, Perak, and Selangor fell into opposition hands for either the first or second time ever in the country's history. The current tally stands at 139 for BN while the Justice Party led the opposition coalition at 31 seats followed by Democratic Action Party at 28 seats and Islamic Party at 23 seats.

9 March 2008:
Personal news : For the first time ever, my constituency will have an opposition representative in federal parliament. The Perak state Democratic Action Party chief Lim Lip Eng has won the Segambut seat in Kuala Lumpur with a majority of 7732 votes. The Segambut seat has been continuously held by BN since it's creation in the 1994 elections.
